Year 5 Maths

This term, our Year 5 students took their learning of decimals to the next level by applying their knowledge to a 100-metre dash! As part of our math unit on decimals to the hundredths place, students had the chance to run races while timing themselves, which helped them see how decimals are used in real life.

Students saw how decimals play a significant role in everyday life, from measuring precise times in sports to calculating distances or speeds. By timing themselves and reflecting on the data, they were able to see how even small differences, like hundredths of a second, can make a big impact.

It was a great way to not only practice math skills but also see firsthand how important accuracy is when recording information. The students were engaged, motivated, and excited to explore the world of decimals in a fun and meaningful way!

Students have been busy learning about decimals and fractions through a range of learning experiences and problem-solving activities.
