Celebrating Term 1
Thank you to the teaching teams for the excellent work they have done in implementing the new English curriculum this term. The introduction of structured literacy routines, formalising a consistent approach for literacy practices, has been embraced by staff and students alike. On a recent walkthrough multiple students shared how their increasing confidence with the technical aspects of English helps them feel more confident when writing.
NCCD and Personal Learning Plans
The National Consistent Collection of school data (NCCD) collects data about school students with disability in Australia who are receiving adjustments in a consistent, reliable and systematic way. It enables schools, education authorities and governments to better understand the needs of students with disability and how they can best be supported at school. Any child who is identified as needing additional support or adjustments to access learning may be identified as part of the NCCD even if they don’t have an identified disability. Our school develops a Personalised Learning Plan for students who are identified as part of the NCCD. This documents the adjustments made for individual student to access their learning. The NCCD data collection is a summary of school numbers, rather than individual students. The information on individual students in retained at school level, like any other documentation that is relevant at a school level during a child’s time at school. I have included a link on NCCD to provide further insight- https://www.education.gov.au/download/18342/getting-started/38239/document/pdf. If you have any further questions, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s class teacher or the learning enhancement teacher for your child’s year level.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the recent parent teacher interviews. The new system, in a central location, ensures a more efficient process for adhering to the interview times for all parties. If you missed booking a time, I encourage you to contact the class teacher. This is a time for teachers to share how your child is progressing with their learning and what they may need to be working towards.
Thank you, Year 6 Camp Staff
Thank you to the Year 6 teaching team and the additional staff from other areas of the school for being willing to give up their time to supervise children on a four night school camp. Your generosity allows our children to be exposed to outdoor learning opportunities that help create incredible childhood memories. The rural nature of the Year 6 camp on a farm certainly gives our Year 6 students a completely different experience and we are so glad they had such a wonderful and worthwhile time.
Facilities Update
The school pool will be re-painted next term, as part of continued efforts to upgrade school facilities. Over the school holidays there are also plans to replace the roof and eaves of the current Administration building, externally clean multiple locations and trim trees on the embankment and bottom oval. Planning is underway for a shaded outdoor learning area to replace the Dragon playground.
School Audit
Congratulations to our Administration Team (Ann, Janet, Vasuhi and Janet), led by Business Manager Taryn Lowe, for the outstanding result in the recent school Administration audit. The systems and processes that this team have in place ensures that our school can operate efficiently and effectively at all times. I know the school and our students are in safe hands with the guidance of this team.
