Year 5 and 6 Art Club – Term 1 Urban Landscapes

To start Term 2, Art Club finished off our pieces from Term 1, where our talented Year 5 and 6 students explored the theme of Urban Landscapes. Drawing inspiration from the unique architecture around our school, students began by tracing photographs of familiar buildings to create a strong foundation for their artwork.

From there, they experimented with watercolour techniques—including both wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry methods—to bring their urban scenes to life with colour, texture, and mood. The results were truly impressive, with each student producing a unique and expressive piece.

We’re incredibly proud of the creativity, focus, and artistic growth shown by everyone involved. Well done, artists!

Year 3 Back in Action!

It’s been a short but busy start to Term 2 in Year 3, and we’re already off to a great start! The students have come back full of smiles and energy, ready to jump back into learning. Even in a short week, we’ve packed in plenty—running our hearts out at cross country, celebrating our school values at parade, and starting to think deeply about the meaning of ANZAC Day.

With ANZAC Day just around the corner and our ANZAC Memorial Church excursion coming up next week, we’ve been having some great classroom discussions. The students are asking thoughtful questions and really starting to understand why these events are important—not just in history, but for our local community too.

We love seeing how curious and engaged our learners are. We’re encouraging them to wonder, ask questions, and explore ideas together. It’s a great way to build their thinking skills while also helping them develop empathy, respect, and a stronger sense of connection to the world around them.
