ISS Years 3-6 Cross Country 2025
Thanks to all students, teachers, staff and parents for your help and support on Tuesday to make our annual interhouse cross country event possible.
Despite some muddy areas of the track and the wet feet, this event was a remarkable celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit. The challenging wet conditions transformed the course into a true cross-country test and our Years 3 to 6 students put in an incredible effort during their races. All students participated to earn points for their houses.
Congratulations to all participants for their perseverance and sportsmanship – especially to Cook House, who emerged as the 2025 Cross Country Champion House. Well done!
A huge congratulations to all Cross Country age champions for this edition:

Cross Country District Trials
Wishing all the best to the 36 students who will be representing our school at the district cross country this Tuesday 29th April at Limestone Park, Ipswich. Good luck!
Interschool Sport - Term 2
Interschool Sport will commence next Friday (Week 2 – 2nd May) and it will run for 4 weeks. Sport allocations have already been made. If your child is not able to participate (injury/medical condition) in their sport, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can inform admin who have already actioned all invoices to parents.
The interschool sports this term are:
• Boys Touch Football (Graceville Junior Rugby League Club)
• Girls Basketball (UQ Basketball)
• Cricket (Graceville Memorial)
• Girls & Boys Football / Soccer (Dunlop Park, Oxley Rd, Corinda)
• Tennis Competitive (UQ Courts)
• Tennis Non-Competitive (ISS – Tennis Courts)
• Table Tennis (ISS – Hall)
• School Based Sports (ISS – Moore Park)
Parents/Coaches – We are looking for some help!
If you are interested in running some training sessions for our students in Year 5 and 6 prior to the interschool sport season, we would love to hear from you.
We are hoping that we could have some parent volunteers to assist and provide training for the students for the following sports: Boys Touch Football, Girls Basketball, Cricket, and Girls & Boys Football (Soccer) - days and times are yet to be decided and can be negotiated.
Please contact the PE team if you have some experience in any of the sports mentioned above, and if you can help our students to get some training sessions for their sports this term.
District Sport
Please see below an updated 2025 District Trials calendar.
If your child is interested in attending any district trials throughout the year, please email us as soon as possible. We will record their name and send out more information when we receive this from the district. Please note, we can only send a limited number of students from Indooroopilly State School to each trial. If we have many students interested, we will have to hold a trial within the school first. If your child is selected to attend the district trials, we will send paperwork home which will need to be filled out and signed and then sent back to us before the trials. If we do not receive this paperwork on time, we will not be able to nominate your child for the trials. This is a new process from the district going forward this year.
Celebrating success in sport
Massive congratulations to Millie S (6D – Sports Captain) who placed 3rd at the Qld Athletics State Championships in the U13 Javelin last March. This result qualified her to compete at the Australian Athletics National Championships in Perth on 6th April. Millie travelled to Perth over the school holidays and placed 10th in the U13 Javelin, which is a great effort for her first Nationals.
Previous ISS students also competed at Nationals: Tom Scott (graduated in 2021) won his 3rd consecutive National Championship for Javelin in U16; and Sophie Scott (graduated 2019) placed 7th in the U20 Pole Vault.
