Year 4 Information Texts
4F have been viewing and analysing a range of Information Texts this term. More recently, we co-constructed an information text on the topic of caterpillars and their transformation to a butterfly after watching a few videos. Below is the text we wrote together, where we focused on including technical and formal language, noun groups, sub-headings, topic sentences, bullet points and a variety of sentences.

Exploring Weathering in 5E
In Science this term, Year 5 are investigating how the Earth’s surface changes over time through the processes of weathering and erosion. We have learnt that the word 'weathering' does not describe atmospheric weather conditions, but is a specific term used to describe the different ways that rocks on the surface of Earth are broken down. We are learning that there are three types of weathering – mechanical, chemical and biological – and were able to simulate the mechanical process of abrasion using sugar cubes, preserving jars and some upper-body exercise. It was particularly interesting to watch our sugar cubes transform into almost perfect spheres as the outer layers turned into a fine powder that looked like icing sugar.
