Singleton Oval

We are delighted to be enjoying the increased space now that the building site fences have been moved. The students are relishing running and playing on the new astro-turf, including 5 new handball courts!

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. The theme for 2025, Bridging Now to Next, urges us to look ahead and continue to push forward as past lessons guide us. It also calls for Australians to step forward together. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together. Next week the school will participate in a whole school singing event in honour of Reconciliation Week.

Road Safety Awareness

Thank you to the many families and children who are doing the right thing on the roads and footpaths around our school. Given this week is Road Safety Week, I encourage all parents to discuss road safety awareness with your child.

It is particularly important that children know how to cross the road safely. Last week a member of the public reached out to express concern over how some people dawdle across Moggill Rd and traffic that is waiting to turn might not see little ones doing this. We have also observed children run onto the Moggill Rd crossing with less than 5 seconds to go on the timer, trying to cross both lanes before the timer ends.

In our loading zones it is safer for drivers to remain in their vehicles and for children to enter and exit independently. Children should enter and exit vehicles from the footpath side and not use the passenger door on driver's side.

My last concern is with how children walk on the footpath, close to the gutter. Please encourage your children to walk as far away from the road as the footpath allows and to the left of any oncoming pedestrians.

Thank you for being proactive in helping your children transition safely to and from school.

Communicating with our school

Communicating respectfully with school staff, with reasonable expectations about timeliness of responses is an important consideration to making school parent relationships work. Communicating with your child’s school guideline outlines clear, consistent expectations for how parents/carers can engage with our school, including appropriate contact channels, response timelines, and processes for raising concerns respectfully.

Art Commission

We are looking for artists that may be able to create a sculpture and/ or foyer mural for the new Administration and Learning centre. If you or someone you know would be interested in talking to us to give a quote for these pieces, please have them contact the principal e-mail principal@indooroopillyss.eq.edu.au.
