Prep Reporting
Our Prep students experience a steep learning curve in their first semester at school. From recognising letters and numbers, learning the phonics code, speaking in small groups, to writing simple sentences and short texts – they make incredible progress in a short time. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence and skills grow each week.
As with the rest of the school, Prep students will receive an overall achievement grade for English. This year, however, we’ve introduced a small but important change:
Alongside the English comment, you’ll now see separate results for the three modes of English:
• Speaking and Listening
• Reading and Viewing
• Writing and Creating
This change is designed to give parents a clearer picture of how their child is progressing in each area of English. An overall effort grade for English will also continue to be included.
Clarity around Effort and Behaviour grades
To ensure clarity and consistency across all schools, Education Queensland (EQ) has released standardized descriptions for the 5-point scales used to assess behaviour and effort.
In Prep–Year 6:
• Effort is reported for each subject.
• Behaviour is reported as an overall result.
The descriptions are tabled below.
