100 Days of Prep
Our Prep children had a wonderful morning last Thursday as part of the 100 Days of Prep celebration. It was a privilege to be a part of the morning. A very high number of parents attended the morning which made it all the more special. Well done to parents who dressed children so elaborately for the occasion.
Choir
This week there were two choir events. The first was held on Tuesday evening at Indooroopilly State School. Our senior choir combined with Chapel Hill State School Choir. The combined concert provided some wonderful entertainment for those who attended and a great opportunity for choirs from both schools to perform to an audience.
On Thursday evening our junior choirs had their combined event with Chapel Hill State School. I was honoured to open the evening and be a part of this great opportunity for the students of both schools.
Cybersafety Info session
On Wednesday evening the Australian Federal Police presented a session to parents about Cybersafety. They title this session: Think U Know. This title, I think, is very pertinent. Many adults think that they are on top of technology in their house, and think that they know what children are doing, when in fact, the technology moves so quickly and our children are on it so frequently, that we are left behind.
Parents who attended found the session to be enlightening. I am sure that a session like this will be offered again in 2026. Watch this space.
Parent/Teacher Meetings
Over the past week, the school has offered meetings to parents with the classroom teacher. This process is essential in understanding how your child is progressing in class. The face-to-face process allows the teacher to provide clearer information than that provided in a report card.
Prep Enrolment Meetings
Mrs Sacha Rogers has been interviewing families who have enrolled for Prep in 2026. This process allows us to capture some information about each child to ensure that we best cater for and place every child next year. If you have not yet enrolled a future prep child for 2026, please contact the school office to organise an enrolment form. Our planning for next year has started and the sooner we capture our enrolments the smoother transitions will be.
Supervision Arrangements for Wednesday 6th August
I sent information regarding the proposed Teacher Industrial Action planned for next Wednesday. Indooroopilly State School will only be in the position to offer supervision to students who attend school on the day. Students will be allocated to either teachers in attendance or auxiliary staff. It is not likely that students will be with their regular class teacher and the usual daily routines will not be in place. It remains our responsibility to maintain student safety for every student who attends on Wednesday.
Some teachers had parent teacher interviews organised for Wednesday. By now, those impacted by this will have been contacted to have this meeting time/day altered. If this is not the case, please email admin@indooroopillyss.eq.edu.au. Other events that are impacted include Life Education and the LOTE excursion. We have made other arrangements to ensure that students can participate in these incursions on alternative dates.
