Friday 5 September SFD

Next Friday will be the last Student Free Day for 2025. Staff will be deepening their knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture and Perspectives through the Crossing Cultures workshop. Teaching staff will be unpacking the V9 Science Curriculum and developing an implementation plan. Specialist staff will be deepening their understanding about how AI can support their teaching and learning program and considerations and adjustments for Hearing Impaired.  Teacher Aides will also be engaging in CPR training and online courses to learn how to support student learning more effectively in the classroom. It will be a very productive day for everyone.

CSI visit

Last week local Principals and the School Supervisor visited our school to learn about our implementation of V9 English curriculum, in particular the Shared and Dialogic reading approach in our Structured Literacy sequence. Our visitors were informed about the ISS approach by two of its architects, Sascha Rogers (HOD-C) and Steve Box (DP), and then visited classrooms from years 2-6 across the school. The visitors were so impressed by the quality of reading instruction and the sophistication of the dialogue that our students were engaging in around the complex and challenging texts they were exploring together. The skills the children are developing to comprehend a text deeply, will be easily transferable to all texts they read, and assist in our quest to help our learners to be avid readers and critical thinkers with a curious mindset. The feedback from our visitors was to continue to evolve our practice through observing and reflecting together, to ensure consistency and alignment.

School Council

This Tuesday, the School Council will meet in its capacity to assist with school governance. The School Council looks at the strategic operations of the school, including budgeting, infrastructure, strategic planning and Annual Implementation Plan monitoring. Thank you to Peter Finch (President) and the other members of School Council for their investment in our school.

2026 Enrolment Intentions

Parents of Prep to year 5 students who will NOT be returning to ISS in 2026 are requested to email admin@indooroopillyss.eq.edu.au with their child’s name, current class and destination school. Knowing our enrolments for next year helps us enormously with class formation, teacher recruitment and classroom accommodation needs. All of these allow for the smoothest possible start to the new school year. Your assistance is greatly appreciated by our staff. Please provide this information by Friday 12 September.
